Retrace AQ is progressing through the development phase with the expectation of offering life-preserving protection from airborne pathogens.
Mucormycosis is an aggressive fungal infection that can attack the nose, eyes, palate, lungs and, in rare instances, the brain. There are currently very limited treatment options available and infected areas have to be surgically removed. In extreme cases it can also cause death. It is caused by exposure to mucor fungus, which can be found in the nasal passages of healthy people but only affects immunocompromised patients, such as those being treated with steroids and aggressive chemical treatments for diseases such as cancer and coronavirus.
Retrace AQ is also expected to provide vital protection against infection from a range of other bacteria and viruses.
