Retrace AF is a clear, intumescent, high-thermal film providing passive fire protection (PFP) in the built environment.
When exposed to fire, the Retrace AF coating expands and generates a thick and stable carbon-foam barrier, which slows and potentially prevents propagation of the char front and the destruction of the substrate, inhibiting and delaying the spread of fire and smoke. The expansion of the material ensures that smoke and flames are contained, helping to maintain the compartmentalisation of a building. Acting as a firebreak, Retrace AF gives occupants valuable additional time to find safety in the event of fire.
Currently undergoing long-term testing, Retrace AF is designed to meet a protection requirement identified by firefighters to prevent a key cause of fire propagation in all buildings – both old and new. The intumescent effectiveness will remain active during the life of the coating, subject to the surface remaining undamaged.
